Gloves Review: Montane Windjammer Glove

These have become my general use gloves over time and I use them for everything from day to day use to hiking and scrambling. As the names suggests they do a great job keeping the wind chill off, which at certain heights is very useful , and because they are not heavily padded I find they give me the best combination of durability and dexterity.

The Gore Tex Infinium / Windstopper I;ve had in a number of other products and its probably the most weather resistant soft-shell I’ve come cross and I’ve used plenty so far. Though it isn’t waterproof it does stand up to showers very well and it’s a great trade off between weather resistance and breathability.

The palm and finger use goat leather which is naturally water resistant, and soft while still being pretty strong. Also the gloves work with touch screen phones if needed, which tends to be the type of most phones these days. For those days where your nose is streaming you have a nose wipe on the back the thumb, what’s more the gloves are fast drying which here in the UK is a must.

Generally these tend to be my autumn gloves and I also use them for scrambling, they are pretty handy to have around, they can be a little cold in some weather however and they are a close fit, also I find because I can’t get liners in them easily I can’t increase their warmth which in some situations would be handy. Otherwise I really like this product, and I’ve always got a set of these handy! Being a close fit does give me a lot more dexterity though so to me these are a great choice for scrambling.
